A Donated Church Cleaning in Polk County — with Everett Whitehead & Son

A donated church cleaning is rare in this business — most of what we do is paid work, homes and offices and warehouses all over Polk County. But every so often a project comes along that has nothing to do with the invoice. Last year, alongside our friends at Everett Whitehead & Son, we got to donate a full church cleaning right here in our community — and it's still one of the jobs we're proudest of.

Why we say yes to these

Orchid started in 2012 as a small, family-rooted Polk County company, and we've been lucky to grow up alongside this community. Giving back to the place that built us is part of how we want to run things. When there's a chance to help a church, a school, or a neighbor who needs a hand, we try to make room for it — and this one was an easy yes.

How the donated church cleaning came together

We've worked alongside the crew at Everett Whitehead & Son on plenty of jobs over the years. The pattern is usually the same: they build it, and we make it shine for the handoff. So when the church project came up, partnering was the natural move. Whitehead handled the construction side, and we took care of the cleaning — start to finish, on the house.

What a donated church cleaning actually involves

A church is not a quick wipe-down. There's the sanctuary with all of its seating and floors, the fellowship hall and classrooms, a kitchen, restrooms, glass and fixtures throughout — and the fine construction dust that settles into every surface once the work is finished. Our crew ran a full detail so the congregation could walk into a space that felt cared for, not like a job site that had just cleared out.

Why it mattered

Watching a congregation walk into a finished, spotless space — that's the kind of thing you don't get from a paycheck. It's also a good reminder of why we do this work in the first place: a clean room changes how a place feels, and getting to give that to a community space made the whole thing worth it.
